Our food pantry is open each Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Our Food Pantry is a wonderful outreach of Grace Parish. Originally Dorothy Ridley organized the collection and distribution of food from a small room in the Education wing. In late 2001 Pat Rader volunteered to help the Rector with the many requests this inner city parish received for food assistance. The Pantry soon outgrow its space and Dick Vogus built a storage room in the undercroft. Refrigerators and freezers were donated and they were off and running.  Special kudos to Ginny Harmon for organizing this undertaking, seeing that the food we needed was ordered.  Ginny spent countless hours with the Food Pantry.  Thanks to all volunteers for organizing and giving of their time to this Food Pantry.  We could not do it without all of our faithful volunteers.

Our pantry is regularly serving upwards of 500 families per average week. Each family receives breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a family of four for a day. In addition, some toiletries and additional foods are passed out, depending on the supply. We are thankful to the Cleveland Food Bank and the Episcopal Community Services Foundation for their help in this enterprise.  We would also like to thank Panera Bread for their very generous donation every Wednesday night of countless bags and boxes of bread, bagels and pastries, Mansfield Dental Society for toothbrushes and toothpaste, The Kroger Co. , Ashland Rd. for their donation of meats and cheeses and Save A Lot for all their countless donations throughout the year. We also have many churches and organizations that hold countless food drives for us.  On the third Thursday of each month The Richland County Health Department is generous and provides Health Screenings for everyone.

Much work goes into preparing for the Thursday morning event. Wednesday morning a small crew comes in to arrange tables and bring the heavy boxes out. The larger Wednesday afternoon crew pack the bags and flat boxes with what will be distributed.

Thursday at 9:30 am. the line stretches down Third Street until the doors are open. Each family unit represents four people, so over 1000 people receive a day's food each week.Even though much of the food is donated, the cost to our parish is still well over $500 a month. Parishioners donate money and the vestry matches these donations. Several grants from the Episcopal Community Services Foundation also help fund this growing project.

Annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic! 2011

On September 18, 2011 we celebrated our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic!  Eric Saterfield and Karen Davis were kind enough to grill the hot dogs and hamburgers and we had a lot of great food.  Grace Church water bottles were given to all the volunteers.  A great time was had by all!

The Holiday Season was an amazing time for our guests.  They received a choice of Holiday meats, blankets, coats, hats, scarves and plenty of items to give for Christmas.

Crossroads Community Church GoMissions!

Crossroads Community Church GoMissions! team organized a huge food drive in the month of August.  We are so very grateful to Crossroads for all of their efforts in supplying Grace's Food Pantry with over 150 large boxes of canned goods, boxed meals, household cleaners, paper products, personal hygiene items and school supplies.  What a great effort on their part and we are honored to partner with such a generous congregation.  There was also a generous cash donation to supply funds for 173 holiday turkeys.  Thank you Crossroads for your call to service and partnering with Grace's Food Pantry!  Glory to God!!!!

Kokosing Foundation!

Kokosing sponsored a company wide challenge for their local companies to raise awareness and products for local Foon Pantry's.  Our local Kokosing's challenge was to donate non-perishable items to a local Food Pantry of their choice.  They chose Grace Food Pantry as their designated recipient and we are so very grateful!  Nine men collected 337 items and their company matched each item with one dollar.  The nine men donated these items and the Kokosing Foundation matched it with a check for $337.  This donation will supply our families with 168 Holiday Turkeys.  Thank you Kokosing for taking action to help those in need in your community.  We are so very grateful and will look forward to all the great work that you do in the future!  Thanks again for helping our pantry and caring about your community.

Special Thanks to Meijer!

We, at Grace Episcopal Church, would like to thank Meijer for their recent donations.  We would also like to pledge our support of their local company.  In the past month, Meijer has donated $680.00 to be used toward holiday meats and most recently, have donated close to $1,000 in outdoor plants and shrubbery.  They wanted these donations to go to Grace Episcopal Church because of all the hard work and financial support that Grace has shown to their neighbors in need.  A special thank you and a pledge to support their business and to enjoy our on-going relationship.  Meijer will also be sponsoring another food card drive over Christmas.  Thanks to all who work so hard to care for our neighbors.

Special Thanks to Kroger, Ashland Rd.!

We at the Food Pantry would like to pledge our support to Kroger during the Holiday months.  Supporting the local businesses that support Grace Episcopal Church is especially important during these economic times.  Kroger has been an incredible support to the Food Pantry by donating meats weekly.  To give you an idea of how vital this support is, they work hard each week to prepare safe products to be donated.  By the end of the year they will have donated over $100,000 retail, in products to Grace.  A special thanks to Kroger and a pledge to support their business.
